REVENUE GROWTH: 70%

HQ: Truckee, Calif.

The Fortune 1,000 trusts ProcureAbility to support and transform their procurement organizations by providing on-demand consulting, staffing, recruiting, analytics and market intelligence. Decades of experience and a robust team empower the firm to address needs and opportunities with options that deliver maximum procurement ability. ProcureAbility is your procurement expert. Consulting recently caught up with CEO John Evans to talk about the firm's growth.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Evans: We feel that our most important differentiators are : Our people – as a professional services firm, you're only as good as your team, and I truly believe that we have one of the best and brightest group of procurement experts, analysts and support team in the U.S. Also, our exclusive focus on Procurement (it's all we do) and our flexible support options (we offer a wide range of support, from strategic advisory support to tactical staffing support, or the option to combine the two) have been very important contributors to our growth.

Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Evans: This year has been an interesting year, to say the least. We built a thriving new "normal" through the COVID crisis and have an ongoing initiative to develop internal and external ways to create change for equality and diversity. We have also been fortunate enough to continue to grow. We have more than tripled in size from 5 years ago, and this will be the highest revenue year in our 24-year history.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2021? Where do you see the most opportunities?

Evans: We continue to be bullish regarding our growth – we're targeting 30%+ annual growth in 2020 and 2021. We're also investing in digital – both in technology and our offerings, as it applies to the Procurement space. We think there are some exciting new opportunities regarding Procurement data analytics, AI and RPA and are excited about "inventing" the next evolution of digital tools as they apply to Procurement.

Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2021?

Evans: One of our biggest challenges will be keeping/improving our culture as we grow. That's probably a challenge for any growing company, but at ProcureAbility, our entrepreneurial, innovative culture is a big part of who we are, and something that's extremely important to us. We are focused on finding ways to maintain that, and hopefully even improve it as we grow. Additionally, as with most companies, figuring out the new normal post-COVID will be a challenge, but it is one we're actually very excited about. We've been a virtual firm since we started in 1996, so this is a very comfortable space for us, and one that I believe that we can truly thrive in.

Consulting: What does being named a Fastest Growing Firm mean to your firm, employees and clients?

Evans: Being named for the fourth year in a row is a huge honor for us. When we started the company in 1996, we established it as part of our foundation to always do our best for our clients, while creating a "great place to work" for our employees. Having a growing company is important for our employees – without growth, we would have fewer development opportunities for our team. Growth also is a big part of having an exciting culture. For our clients, I think it helps to validate that they've made the right choice in partnering with us. We really appreciate this honor and look forward to being on your list for years to come.
