Even as it has grown and expanded, Slalom has stayed true to its cultural values, continually investing in its people and setting them up for success, both on the job and outside of work. Slalom wants its employees to pursue their career interests and come to work every day feeling energized. Those commitments to employee fulfillment have helped Slalom land on our Best Firms to Work For list for an 11th consecutive year.

"Being recognized by Consulting Magazine as a Best for to Work For is an honor for our firm, one that we are proud to receive because it represents the collective voice of our team. We believe that employees and clients seek us out because of this recognition, and that it sets a high bar for what they can expect from us. It reaffirms the choice that each of us made to come to Slalom and distinguishes us as a great firm to work with for our clients," says Slalom cofounder and Chief Experience Officer John Tobin.

This year has brought a steady flow of challenges, but through it all, Slalom remained focused on their core values to take care of its people.

"At Slalom, we care deeply for one another. It's evident in the way we show up for each other in our everyday work, as well as during times of great joy, adversity, or sorrow. We are family, and our roots run deep. In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tony Rojas – our LLC President – shared with our team that "we will never sacrifice people over profits."  During these unprecedented times, the safety of our team members and their loved ones is our number one priority.  We are proud to have weathered this storm together," says Tobin.

Asked about the firm's priorities over the next 6-12 months, Tobin says the firm is pressing ahead with growth initiatives that create opportunities for team members to do even more meaningful work.

"The close connections our people have with each other, our clients, and the communities in which we live and work are an important part of the equation. We believe we have only scratched the surface of what's possible as we work to help our people, clients, and communities to reach for and realize their visions through greater love of work and life. Maintaining the intimacy of our culture is a core emphasis for next year, as it has been every year since we were founded."

Consulting: How would you describe morale at your firm and why?

Tobin: "People love being at Slalom because we actively promote a healthy balance between work and everyday life. We understand that depth of relationship is at the very core of our business and invest in really getting to know and understand each person who calls Slalom home on a personal as well as professional level. We provide infinite opportunities to do meaningful work, which in turn creates career growth and the most motivated, efficient, and productive people. More than that, we genuinely like each other and we like working together."
