In a difficult year for firms and their clients alike, one thing that helped KPMG get through the worst of it was the investment they had made in their people and culture.

KPMG acted quickly during the crisis, in March extending its paid leave program for affected U.S. employees so they could take care of themselves and their dependents. The firm also closed all U.S. offices and issued a mandatory work-from-home policy to ensure worker safety. Through it all, Carande says, associates have continued to work "with focus, commitment, and performance excellence, delivering an outstanding client experience."
