Spaulding Ridge
Excellence in Leadership
Kevin Josephson says he started in consulting out of undergrad under the typical guise of not knowing what he really wanted to do but says he learned a lot about the industry through the recruiting process. "I've consistently found that consulting firms are amongst the best firms at campus recruiting and really engaging students in the process," he says. He was engaged then and has flourished throughout his consulting career.
Today Josephson is a Partner at Spaulding Ridge and leads delivery for the firm's Anaplan practice. He has vast experience advising clients on sales abilities and crafting sales performance management offerings.
"Being recognized by our alliance partner Anaplan as its Americas Alliance Partner of the Year last year was a huge accomplishment," he says "I saw it as not just a personal achievement, but a recognition of what our 'bandmates' are achieving every day for our clients and partners."
In his client work, Josephson says he is most proud to have seen numerous clients get promoted and continue to advance in their organizations shortly after completing programs with his teams. "At Spaulding Ridge we believe 'All Business is Personal,' and there's nothing better than seeing our clients succeed in their careers," he says.
Josephson says he realized early on in his career that consultants impact people's lives every day. "We, of course, impact our clients, but as a people business, we are growing and developing talent within our organizations every day," he says. "Knowing that I can make a positive impact on someone has given me the extra motivation to excel and create pathways to success for others."
Josephson says he loves the energy of the profession. All of the organizations he has worked for have been great at bringing in professionals at the very beginning of their careers. These folks bring a vigor, curiosity, and passion to the work that is infectious.
While it's a challenging time in the world right now, Josephson says he is really looking forward to helping clients and partners be successful and endure. "There is a ton of work to be done, and I believe it's a time where we will see rapid innovation," he says. "I look forward to businesses and people regaining their confidence in the next year as we hopefully conquer this health crisis."
As far as winning the Top 25 Consultants award, Josephson says it's extremely humbling. "I view it as an award that will motivate me to continue to lead effectively, continue to grow, and help others reach their career goals."
Q&A: What's been the biggest factor to your success?
Josephson: Leaders who have believed in my potential and really challenged me to lead have been the biggest factor in my success. Leadership is not an easy skill to learn, but being pushed, and in some cases thrown in, to extremely challenging situations has always helped me to grow. Knowing that I had a support system to help me whenever needed gave me the confidence to try new things and persevere.
