Jordan Henry

Eagle Hill Consulting

Excellence in Strategy Consulting

Age: 34

Prior to joining Eagle Hill Consulting, Jordan Henry spent four years as GM of a minor-league style baseball team, and a year at Groupon helping local businesses design deals and optimize performance. In these roles, he says he enjoyed managing the operations of a small business and partnering with other small businesses to achieve their objectives.

"As a next step, I explored consulting for the opportunity to work with larger organizations and understand the various changes and challenges they face," Henry says. "Along the way, I hoped to find three things: meaningful work, solving problems that mattered; people I liked, who I could learn from; and, somewhere I could try new things to keep developing professionally."

Today, he's a Director at Eagle Hill where he says he's most proud of launching Eagle Hill's Seattle practice—its first outside of Washington, DC—building it from scratch into a fast-growing business. "In 2012, I joined Eagle Hill without prior consulting experience and in 2016, I moved west having never been to Seattle," he says. "In the three years since, we have partnered with amazing organizations across industries, our teams have delivered innovative, impactful solutions for clients, and we accelerated ahead of our initial market plans—all while having a lot of fun! I'm very proud of this progress and excited about what's next."

Henry says he is most excited about the diverse experiences in his consulting career. Entering as consultant, managing engagements and teams, and now launching a new practice, he's had the chance to wear different hats—with a range of interesting organizations and remarkable colleagues from all sorts of backgrounds. "At this point in my career, I particularly enjoy the combination of tackling complex problems and leading others to reach their potential," he says. "The biggest factor to my success so far has been the people around me. I am incredibly lucky to have learned from brilliant managers and leaders at Eagle Hill, and to work with exceptional colleagues."

Individually, he says he attributes his professional drive to the values and work ethic his parents instilled in him, and playing college baseball, which taught him about teamwork and leadership.

Someone once told him: Live every day at work like it's your first, and every day with your friends and family like it's your last. "I love this advice and try to approach each day taking nothing for granted," he says.

Q&A: What does winning a Rising Stars of the Profession award mean to you?

Henry: "Winning a Rising Stars of the Profession award is a tremendous honor! To me, it's very special to see years of dedication and hard work recognized. It's humbling to be considered alongside this year's many talented award winners and I'm so grateful to be selected by Consulting Magazine."
