Ask Pia Tischhauser about the biggest factor to her success and she'll highlight three things: First, she has been very fortunate to get pushed beyond her comfort level to work on some of the most challenging assignments alongside with clients across Europe, the U.S and China. Second, she says she's had amazing mentors that motivate her and give her the confidence she needs when she thought a new role was too big. And lastly, an amazing team. "I believe in motivating others to achieve extraordinary results," she says. "Our success gives me confidence that we will continue to attract the best insurance talents in the industry."
Tischhauser leads Boston Consulting Group's global insurance practice and serves on the firm's Executive Committee. She has worked internationally for almost two decades across three continents and out of BCG's offices in Chicago, London, and Zurich.
Her recent accomplishments include: "Doubling our team and capabilities in our insurance practice and partnering with leading international and regional insurers in the US, Asia and Europe on some of the most meaningful digital transformations in our industry," Tischhauser says.
She has been working with management teams of large international and local insurers, brokers, reinsurers, and regulators. For many years, she has been the firm's global leader for the commercial insurance and reinsurance sector.
One of her proudest moments in her career so far has been when in a team of 40 professionals, over two years of intense work, unlocked some $800 million of value for a client—this was only possible thanks to the deep trusted client relationship, an all-in approach and combining the best experts with new advanced analytics. When this comes all together to deliver value it is a fantastic feeling, she says.
"I love what I do. I thrive on trusted client relationships to deliver value. Being on the forefront when something new is being built or an industry is in disruption is so addictive about this job," she says. "I think as a leader in the consulting industry we have a responsibility to motivate, guide and allow sufficient space for others around us to excel and shine—act as entrepreneurs. That's true for our clients as well as the BCG team."
And when it comes to motivation, Tischhauser says for her, it's all about the people. BCG is a bunch of really talented people who truly support one another, she says. When she asks for help or advice, the response and help she gets from around the world never fails to amaze her, even after over 20 years at BCG.

"Personally, I am honored and humbled to being recognized as a Global Leader in Consulting. It is tribute to a fantastic team that I am working with for so many years and to our clients who trust me and my teams to consistently deliver value. I am accepting this award on behalf of BCG and our insurance team with great pride."
