Lantern Partners is a retained executive leadership recruitment firm with national reach. The firm works with growth stage companies, large and mid-size enterprises, across industry-specific practices including Investor-Backed technology, Consulting, and Healthcare / Life Sciences. Co-founders Paul Maranville and Christopher Morgan sat down with Consulting to discuss the firm.
Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?
Maranville: Since the beginning, we have focused on earning the trust and confidence of our clients by instilling transparency and shared risk in the process and the outcome. Driven solely by organic growth, we have expanded our client base to include a broad roster of marquee brand consultancies, private equity and venture capital firms, and many large corporations. With the vast majority of our business coming from repeat clients, our specialized offering has established Lantern as the "go-to" partner for senior executive and C-level recruiting needs in the industries and functional areas we serve.
Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?
Morgan: Our growth trajectory will continue this year and beyond as we focus on expanding geographically across U.S. and global markets. Spurred by our rapid growth, 2020 also includes plans to move and significantly expand our headquarters in Chicago. In the coming year we will also be focused on broadening our brand, thought leadership and marketing initiatives.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2020?
Maranville: We have taken significant steps to reach our goals for 2020 and beyond including the launch of a dedicated practice in Healthcare and Life Sciences and the appointment of an industry veteran to lead it. As the regulatory environment and the move toward consolidation continues to transform the healthcare industry, Lantern Partners is solidly positioned to help our clients bring in the right talent to lead these organizations as they navigate this industry transformation. With talent scarce in the industries that we serve, we are also seizing an opportunity to reinforce the value that we bring to the recruiting process and the confidence that our clients have in our ability to identify and hire the best leaders for their businesses.
Consulting: What are your firm's biggest challenges in 2020?
Morgan: In 2020 and beyond, we will be keenly focused on helping our clients distinguish between the real and perceived value of technology in the very human-centric process of recruiting for C-suite or senior executive positions. Our process goes beyond matching a resume with a job description and ensures that the candidates we place have the competencies that are predictors to success and the personality traits that enhance a company's culture.
