REVENUE GROWTH: 239%

HQ: Brentwood, Tenn.

Pivot Point Consulting is a healthcare firm with roughly 400 consultants serving over 100 clients across the U.S. Consulting caught up with Rachel Marano, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Pivot Point.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Marano: Pivot Point Consulting's growth in the past year was due to multiple factors, including strategic partnerships, expansion of advisory services, healthcare IT services (including managed services, HIM and life sciences) and a "Happyology" culture that attracts and retains the best consultants and internal staff. To successfully grow this fast validates that we are focused on the right things: relationships, reliability, and results. These are the foundation for how we work with our clients and consultants and are embedded in everything we do. We are a consultant-led and outcomes-driven firm. We're dedicated to finding the best consultants and retaining them by being a great employer dedicated to supporting consultants' long-term success through our Happyology program. As a result, we have an industry leading 97 percent retention rate.

Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Marano: We have made strategic investments in growing our Advisory Services team to meet the market and propel us where it's going. Our healthcare IT services have also grown to incorporate Managed Services offerings via our strategic partner PDS, as well as HIM and Life Sciences services. We have consistently met our growth goals year over year and are on path to meet our 2019 goals.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2020?

Marano: In 2020, Pivot Point will continue its trajectory of growth serving a broad range of healthcare clients. Our vision for growth across our divisions includes retaining talent solutions with project, staff augmentation and permanent positions and EHR/HIT implementation and optimization as core competencies. Managed Services, a natural complement to our EHR/HIT system implementations, will grow significantly. Additionally, Vaco's 2019 acquisition of MorganFranklin Consulting will complement and accelerate our Advisory Services capabilities in IT strategy, value-based care data analytics and digital transformation.

Consulting: What are your firm's biggest challenges in 2020?

Marano: Any company that grows this quickly will be challenged to preserve the quality they're known for and the culture their employees appreciate. We are committed to preserving our exceptional experience as we continue to invest in creating a differentiated experience while retaining our culture. Relationships, reliability and results are the guiding principles that ensure success as we work to remain boutique in service while growing broad in scale.

Consulting: What does being named a Fastest Growing Firm mean to your firm, employees and clients?

Marano: To be named a Fastest Growing Firm means that Pivot Point's commitment to excellence and growing thoughtfully is paying off. As we become broad in scale, we will remain boutique in service. A spot on this list is evidence that we are tracking with our vision: To be the partner of choice for healthcare organizations and consultants by building strong relationships, providing reliable solutions and resources, and always producing outstanding results for our clients.
