Revenue Growth: 95%
HQ: Redmond, Wa.
Randy Karr, CEO of the Spur Group, says the Redmond, Wash.-based firm is a business consultancy focused on accelerating client revenue. "We help transform the way clients go-to-market, using actionable insights to make better decisions, gain competitive advantage, and accelerate time to market," Karr says. "Our proven IP, tailored to their business, helps turn client challenges into client successes." Karr says he would like to thank "our clients and our incredible staff. Everyone at Spur is dedicated to delivering success for our clients, our firm, and one another." Consulting caught up with Karr to discuss the Spur Group's exceptional revenue and financial performance.
Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?
Karr: Three key factors contribute to The Spur Group's growth. We listen to our clients and help them meet or beat their revenue acceleration goals, we hire great consultants and invest in their professional development, and we leverage repeatable processes to scale our work across all four service lines. The Spur Group offers unparalleled expertise, and our clients rely on us to fuel sales, boost operations, elevate channels, and amplify communications.
Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?
Karr: 2018 is shaping up to be another strong year for The Spur Group. The booming economy is certainly helping, but we reorganized our business for 2018 to a growth-focused structure from top to bottom. Importantly, our people continue to do great work and have realized some amazing project outcomes, which results in long-term client relationships and follow-on work.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2019? Where do you see the most opportunities?
Karr: Our outlook for 2019 is very positive. We see many opportunities in cross-selling to our existing clients across the channel management, sales transformation, business operations, and connected communications service areas. We also see opportunity in net new client acquisition by building on our 2018 success of adding four new logos to our pipeline, and we look forward to accelerating their revenue growth.
Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2019?
Karr: Our greatest challenges in 2019 are maintaining our momentum in the face of an economy that's likely decelerating and preserving the culture of our firm as we grow in the number of people and offices (multi-location).
Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms this year mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?
Karr: For the firm, it is a great honor. For our employees, being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms validates their hard work and outstanding commitment to one another. And for our clients, the recognition reaffirms their trust in us.
