Revenue Growth: 111%

HQ: Naperville, Ill.

Naperville, Ill.-based Impact Advisors is a nationally-recognized healthcare information technology consulting firm that is solving some of the toughest challenges in the industry by delivering strategic advisory, implementation and optimization services, says Maria Smith, Chief Financial Officer. "Our comprehensive suite of patient access, clinical and revenue cycle services span the lifecycle of our clients' needs," Smith says. "Our experienced team has a powerful combination of clinical, revenue, operations, consulting, and IT experience." Smith sat down with Consulting to discuss Impact Advisors' outstanding revenue growth and financial performance.

Consulting:  What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Smith: Since our inception, we have achieved sustainable growth by attracting and retaining world-class people and helping our clients solve some of healthcare's toughest challenges with integrity and honesty. And throughout this growth, we've maintained the high level of quality our clients have come to expect from Impact Advisors. Although growth is not a primary strategy, it is a nice by-product of the success we are having in the marketplace. We are also expanding our service offerings as the market shifts.

Consulting:  How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Smith: We continue to maintain previous levels of growth as we look for more opportunities to expand our service offerings around clinical and revenue cycle optimization, in addition to serving the growing AMS and ERP market in healthcare.

Consulting:  How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2019?

Smith: We see that emerging technologies are finally starting to be put to the test to help improve outcomes. Cybersecurity is at the forefront in terms of ensuring appropriate measures (tools and processes) are in place to meet this ever-increasing challenge. Other solutions are moving even more to the top-of-mind to meet the challenges mentioned above. Digital Health, addressing consumerism and the patient experience are vital—these opportunities will include numerous technologies that can enhance the care delivery process. This may involve new creative Telehealth approaches, it will include data analytics and methods to leverage and use relevant data to make decisions and drive outcomes, patient engagement capabilities to better align patients and families with providers will continue to evolve and adapt, and last, but not least, the interoperability of technologies to share data will be even more important.

Consulting:  What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges?

Smith: We continue to work on maintaining and enhancing our culture as we grow. We were recently recognized again as a Best Small Firm to Work For by Consulting so we use that as an indicator that we are absorbing our growth while still maintaining our culture and delivering quality work.

Consulting:  What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?

Smith: Our clients and associates delight in celebrating our recognition as one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms. We consider this award a great honor and are most grateful for the growth we've experienced to date. Being recognized in this way energizes us to continue growing and realizing our Impact family's goals.
