Revenue Growth: 105%
HQ: Phoenix
Coalfire started in 2001 with a simple idea—cyber threats are increasing, compliance mandates are getting more complicated, and a well-designed cybersecurity program can help fuel your overall success. Cybersecurity is a growing concern, and imperative for every organization. Boards of directors are increasingly involved in directing strategy, and are more accountable to protecting the business, their brand, and their customers," says Patrick Kehoe, Chief Marketing Officer. "This is an exciting and growing industry, and Coalfire is pleased to be a part of serving this important area and need. By providing independent, tailored advice and services that span the cybersecurity lifecycle, we help clients develop scalable programs that improve their security posture, achieve their business objectives, and fuel their continued success." Kehoe sat down with Consulting to discuss Coalfire's revenue growth and financial performance.
Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?
Kehoe: I'd say the overall trend in the market toward cloud and Coalfire's expertise in cloud security has helped a lot. Also, comprehensive compliance services; new regulations emerging; organizations fatigued by compliance work; and customers looking for partners like Coalfire who have knowledge across frameworks and provide a defense-in-depth approach to security services.
Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?
Kehoe: Excellent! We are on a positive trajectory to growing profitably. We are seeing key successes in technology organizations, healthcare, retail, and financial services. We are also supporting a wide range of mid-market companies that lack resources and skills needed for their cybersecurity strategies.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2019?
Kehoe: In 2019, the migration to cloud will continue. Deep technical testing will be in high demand, particularly in application and data security, as organizations realize the difficulties in securing the perimeter. They will need assistance orchestrating the myriad of point products they typically have.
Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2019?
Kehoe: How best to technology enable the services we provide to ensure consistency and scaleability. Also, helping organizations tell their security stories… security can/should be a source of competitive advantage for many organizations. Coalfire is focused on helping them figure out how to do that (without sharing details that might attract threat actors).
Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms this year mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?
Kehoe: This is a great honor! It is a reinforcement of the value we deliver to our clients—as the majority of our work year over year is with existing relationships. It also validates our strategy and shows that our commitment to being a trusted advisor, not tied to any one product/solution, is valued in the market.
