51. Cask

Revenue Growth: 73%

HQ: San Diego

Cask is a results-oriented business and technology consulting firm that helps organizations change, grow and run their businesses at new levels—previously thought not possible, says Neil Anderson, CMO of Cask. Anderson sat down with Consulting to discuss Cask's 73 percent revenue growth and overall financial performance.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Anderson: Cask provides a rare blend of deep domain experience and technology expertise. This is a significant differentiator for the markets we serve and has been the primary driver of our growth. Our focus on core values and the concept of being a 'small giant' provides the added fuel for our growth. Cask believes that by taking care of our employees, our employees will take care of our clients, and our clients will take care of Cask. We've seen steady growth with existing customers and continually attract new customers who seek true business transformation.

Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Anderson: Cask anticipates a strong 2019 with consistent year over year growth as we execute across our business strategies. Cybersecurity continues to be a growth area across the board, and we have also seen growth with our ServiceNow partnership across enterprise and federal customers.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2019? Where do you see the most opportunities?

Anderson: Cask has strong momentum moving into 2019 and our growth and scale allow us to deliver innovative solutions and create differentiation for our clients. Cybersecurity will continue to be an area of opportunity across enterprise-sized organizations in the federal and commercial markets. Digital Transformation supported by true Organizational Change Management will also cut across industries to deliver growth in 2019.

Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2019?

Anderson: The tactics, strategies, and organization that fueled Cask's growth over the past 3 to 5 years are not necessarily the same ones that will help accelerate Cask's growth in 2019 and beyond. To continue this pattern of growth, Cask will further innovate and evolve. To do so while retaining the same 'mojo' that sets us apart is an exciting prospect for not just our leaders but our entire organization.

Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?

Anderson: Being one of the Fastest Growing Firms is tremendous recognition for our entire firm, and validates the strategic decisions that enabled our past growth and success. Cask also strives to be, and has been recognized for being a great place to work. Being recognized as a great place to work and growing fast is a source of tremendous pride for our organization. For our clients, it is important that we not just retain but enhance our ability to execute and continue to solve the 'hard problems' first—as clients' success is the biggest driver of our growth.
