Revenue Growth: 448%
HQ: South Bend, Ind.
Even though their revenue percentage dipped slightly year over year, South Bend, Indiana-based Press Ganey maintains its exact same position as the No. 9 ranked Fastest Growing Firm in 2018. The firm, says James Merlino, Chief Transformation Officer, pioneered the healthcare performance improvement movement more than 30 years ago. Today, Press Ganey offers an integrated suite of solutions that enable enterprise transformation across the patient journey. The firm's solutions address safety, clinical excellence, patient experience and workforce engagement, Merlino says. Consulting sat down with Merlino to discuss the firm's performance.
Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?
Merlino: Press Ganey's consulting trajectory has continued on the path we forged last year when we were ranked as No. 9 on Consulting magazine's annual list of fastest growing firms. We have continued to build a comprehensive and integrated strategy to help health care organizations deliver on the promise of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care through an engaged and resilient workforce. Our work has focused nearly exclusively on building capability through talent acquisition that enhances Press Ganey's ability to deliver performance improvement strategies to clients through an innovative, integrated suite of consulting solutions. Over the past year, we have also advanced a new transformational framework that allows a more integrated approach to clients in their improvement journeys.
Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?
Merlino: We continue to experience increased demand for our services across all areas, and our clients continue to recognize the unique value that Press Ganey consulting can deliver as we support their goals to enhance the safety, quality and experience of health care delivery. Increasingly, we are seeing our vision come to fruition, where clients are engaging with us as a strategic partner to achieve enterprise-wide transformation.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2019?
Merlino: Our opportunities are for further growth within our universe of clients. As one of the leading health care measurement, analytics and advisory firms in the industry, we are well positioned to continue to expand our consulting business through deepening partnerships that fulfill the mission we share with our clients: to reduce patient suffering by supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges?
Merlino: To continue to meet our goals and capitalize on our opportunities in 2019 and beyond, we must continue our focus on placing the client at the center of our work; scaling our business strategically and successfully; and ensuring that we are creating an environment that attracts and retains the highest quality professionals in the industry. Our clients strive to keep patients at the center of everything they do, and as their partners, that is our goal as well.
Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm?
Merlino: It is a true honor and a validation of our vision and strategy, but most importantly, it's a testament to our team and the incredible work they have been doing for our clients.
