Durham, N.C.-based Core Compete helps organizations accelerate, innovate and automate Big Data and Analytics initiatives. The firm delivers a modern analytics platform that enables companies to tackle the deluge of challenges and opportunities from big data to support millions of daily operational decisions. "We are very encouraged by the interest organizations are showing in modernizing their data and analytics environments and moving to the cloud," says Shiva Kommareddi, Managing Partner. "This creates an excellent foundation for continued growth." Consulting caught up with Kommareddi.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Kommareddi: Most executives trying to drive business value from data and analytics are faced with a complex technology landscape and an overwhelming set of choices. In this fast-changing landscape, most companies lack the critical skills to design and implement an end-to-end modern, elastic analytics infrastructure. We specialize in bringing together the right set of critical skills to drive value from big data and analytics: domain expertise, analytics innovation, technology know-how and agile delivery methodologies. Our focus is to create business impact in quarters instead of years by enabling our customers to think like venture capitalists, seek rapid outcomes, scale success, and have the agility to adapt and change.

Consulting:  How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Kommareddi:  We have continued our solid growth by penetrating into new markets including the media and manufacturing sectors as well as accelerating our partnerships with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Hortonworks and SAS.

Consulting:  How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2019?

Kommareddi: We see 2019 as another year for strong growth. To gear up for this increased demand, we have grown our worldwide staff by 40 percent and added more than 150 new certifications across data, analytics and cloud technologies. Additionally, we expect to see continued interest in our managed services business as our customers see this as an important way for them to have us manage their platform so they refocus on their core business and better manage costs.

Consulting: What are your firm's biggest challenges in 2019?

Kommareddi: As our organization grows, we need to ensure we build a culture that stays true to our core values of building trusted, long-term partnerships with our clients and delighting them with our agility, initiative and innovation. We continue to place an emphasis on recruiting and developing high performing individuals that are the right long-term fit, who have a passion for their work and a commitment to delivering value to our customers.

Consulting:  What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?

Kommareddi:  Our employees consider it an honor to be recognized by such a well-respected national publication. Receiving an award like this provides an opportunity for our team and our clients to step back from all the hard work that has been done and take a moment to appreciate what we have accomplished together. This is a great accomplishment for our organization and we will use this to help motivate us to continue on the same path.
