Although a mainstay on Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms list four years running, this marks the first time Trinity Partners, a Waltham, Mass.-based Strategy firm, has appeared on the Best Small Firms to Work For list.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to creating a great workplace; however, the most important factor is the people, says Dave Fitzhenry, Managing Partner of Trinity Partners. "For Trinity, being named one of Consulting magazine's Best Small Firms to Work For reminds our whole team of just how important company culture is to a firm, and why their continuous effort to make Trinity a great place to work is so valued," he says. "Winning this award reinforces to our clients that we are a great partner to work alongside and it speaks to how dedicated our employees are to the work they do."

Externally, Fitzhenry says this type of recognition helps build a positive reputation with Trinity's client base, and helps in recruiting efforts to attract eager talent to be a part of Trinity's continued growth.

Fitzhenry says Trinity is on pace to exceed its aggressive growth plan and increase organic revenue by over 20 percent. "We attribute this growth to our continued investment in innovation, excellence in execution across all our offerings, and a blue-chip client base that continues to lead the life sciences in novel product development," he says. "Specifically, Trinity sees continued opportunity to drive industry-wide thought-leadership."

The firm is also looking to expand globally and to add additional leadership in capability areas that are adjacent to Trinity's current core offerings, he says. "Our top priority is to manage rapid growth while retaining a discernable Trinity culture and identity," Fitzhenry says. "We plan to become a truly global presence, and add senior expertise, all while striving to make a difference in our community."

About that growth: Fitzhenry says Trinity has been retained by 11 of the top 15 pharmaceutical and 10 of the top 15 biotechnology companies for strategic consulting services. "We are proud of these numbers and we couldn't achieve this level of success without the smart, dedicated people who work at Trinity Partners," he says.

Fitzhenry says the industry is a very competitive environment, and as such, Trinity strives to create a culture of smart and motivated people committed to delivering exceptional work for clients. "That client satisfaction sets Trinity apart in the marketplace while, within the firm, we hold ourselves to high standards for recruitment, training, and retaining our people," he says. "Placing such emphasis on building a strong team, we've found, yields positive results both externally and internally."

On the survey, the firm excelled in the areas of Compensation & Benefits and Career Development. "Our strong positive work environment allows individuals to grow and sustain long-term careers," Fitzhenry says. "We have built a community of experts in the life sciences who are able to collaborate and leverage their knowledge of the healthcare space across myriad areas and project types."

How would you describe morale at your firm?

Fitzhenry: "The best way to describe the company morale is "culture first." Our organization is dynamic and instills motivation and dedication in those who are a part of it. Our leadership team truly leads by example and empowers their teams to strive for excellence as well as personal growth, while working in a dynamic and competitive industry."
