Mathias Hausherr, Managing Director & Associate Partner of Synpulse, says landing on the Best Small Firms to Work For list for the very first time has its advantages, for sure.
"Our company culture has a tremendous effect on how we engage with our clients and how our people approach different projects. When it comes to having a distinct value proposition, our culture is a direct result of who we hire," Hausherr says. "Our employees love to work within the Synpulse culture and our clients love to work with us because of our consultants. Therefore, this award proves that we 'walk the talk,' and expands our name and brand to a larger audience than we are able to reach. As an added bonus, our consultants know that they are at the right place."
Leadership also fosters an enthusiastic and collaborative environment at Synpulse, he says. From the start, consultants are involved in project execution, but it doesn't stop there. Similar to a start-up environment, Hausherr says Synpulse cultivates an entrepreneurial culture that enables consultants to engage in product development, corporate development, internal projects, marketing and communication campaigns and more. "We want to have our consultants working and thinking outside the box," he says. "This means that we don't follow conventional consulting business models or see our staff as people whose only contribution is chargeable hours."
In addition, Hausherr says there are nearly endless business opportunities. "That's what excites us," he says. "We don't see any limitations because we are constantly innovating and adapting to the changing landscape of this industry. With new technology advances coming out constantly, more people want and need to adapt to change but don't know how. We want to be that partner of change for them, we just need to reach them."
Meanwhile, Hausherr says the firm's top priority over the next 12 months is to continue to expand its staff and client base. "We want to do this by having our work and culture speak for us," he says. "We know we produce top-notch work and that we have a great corporate culture… but we are ready to expand upon that."
On the survey, Synpulse excelled in the areas of Work/Life Balance and Culture. "We firmly believe in a healthy work/life balance; we don't see our team as just employees of the firm. We know them, we know things come up that need to be handled, and that issues don't always wait until the workday is over," says Hausherr. "Providing our team with flexibility and balance allows them to work smarter, be more productive, and increase their creativity. In our minds, work/life balance and Synpulse culture go hand in hand."
What is unique about your firm?
Hausherr: "People care about you and listen to what you have to say. Right off the bat, this may not seem unique, but it is. Let's be honest for a minute; everyone has bad days, no matter where you work. However, it's the people surrounding you day-to-day that are going to help you get through it. The team at Synpulse are those people who you can turn to on a bad day—whether it's work related or a personal matter. They listen, and they help where they can. Not because they have to, but because they want to."
