MorganFranklin Consulting is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. What better way to celebrate than the No. 1 ranking on Consulting's annual Best Small Firms to Work For list? It's been six years since MorganFranklin last landed on the list—except this time it's a little different as the No. 1 firm.

Mann says one of the big reasons for the firm's success is because MorganFranklin is an entrepreneurial firm that is 100 percent employee owned, a rarity in the consulting industry. He says the MorganFranklin team is energized and excited about the possibilities ahead.

Mann says the plan is to continue to focus on its core service areas, including technical accounting  and financial reporting, finance transformation and technology solutions while focusing on high growth opportunities such as digital and CIO Services. MorganFranklin will also continue its national expansion by extending its presence in the firm's newer locations—Atlanta, San Francisco, and New York, he says.

Were there any specific programs or initiatives that you think contributed to being a Best Small Firm to Work For? 

Mann: "There are several: The MorganFranklin Way is our collaborative, client-focused service model. It is at the heart of everything we do. We also established an internal Employee Engagement Committee (EEC) a number of years ago. The group of employees facilitates timely, relevant discussions among colleagues on ways to improve the business. They bring these ideas to leadership for engaging discussion, and we take advantage of these opportunities to strengthen our business. And, as an employee-owned company, every person has the opportunity to think and act like an owner every day."
