The 2018 Rising Stars of the Profession: Matthew Treadgold

Matthew Treadgold says his grandfather was a fountain of motivational quotes and words of wisdom. Treadgold says he gave him the best piece of advice when he was leaving for college: Think like a man of action; Act like a man of thought. "Those words have shaped my personal and professional world to this day," he says.

Treadgold joined Eagle Hill Consulting in 2014, and in just two years was promoted to a leadership position and now manages 11 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clients and 80 team members.

He has proven himself to be a successful leader in a short period because his clients and team members respect his work ethic, strategic thinking, and authenticity. This combination of factors has enabled Treadgold to make significant impacts within the firm's DHS Industry, in just three years. In 2017 alone, Treadgold led capture efforts for more than 50 new business opportunities.

He says he's most proud of the opportunities he's had to collaborate with Department of Homeland Security clients on some of the most entrenched and difficult to solve problems, "There is a wonderful sense of accomplishment when you work together with the clients you serve to help DHS achieve its goals," Treadgold says. "In the Homeland Security space this is particularly rewarding, given the important mission the Department serves to keep our nation safe."

Treadgold says he is at the perfect company right now for where he is in his consulting career, and that is extremely exciting. "Eagle Hill trusts me to manage my teams and projects in ways that I think will be most effective for our people and our clients, provides me with latitude to take risks and be innovative in how I approach my leadership role, and offers flexibility so that I can balance my professional and personal life in a way that works for me," he says. "That is exciting."
