The 2018 Rising Stars of the Profession: Amanda Davis

During her time at L.E.K Consulting, Amanda Davis has rapidly ascended to the position of Senior Engagement Manager in L.E.K.'s Industrials practice, leading dozens of strategic consulting projects. She has led a wide range of projects, from a strategic planning workshop for the C-Suite and Board of a high-growth global biochemical manufacturer, to M&A/transaction support for 15 corporate and private equity buyers and sellers.

Davis says she brings away a sense of accomplishment from every consulting project, whether it's advising a private equity firm on an upcoming acquisition or helping a multinational corporation prepare for their next board meeting, "there's always a great feeling at the end of each project that I would imagine is hard to replicate in other industries," she says. "Having clients let us know how they couldn't have succeeded without our work is an incredible feeling."

Davis says L.E.K. has taught her that excelling at this job is not just about making a list and executing on tasks. "Consulting throws you into many unique situations, but a key to my success has been viewing those as opportunities, as opposed to daunting experiences," she says. "I know it's a cliché, but I love how every day is a new challenge. The learning curve in consulting is very steep."

Davis also demonstrates a commitment to developing and retaining L.E.K.'s future rising stars and dedicated over 100 hours to recruiting in the fall of 2017. She is also a co-leader in L.E.K.' s Women's Network.

"One of reasons I joined L.E.K. in 2008 is the training program," Davis says. "I've always loved volunteering my time to teach courses to more junior L.E.K. team members, and it was an awesome feeling to be nominated by my peers as Professional Development Instructor of the Year in both 2015 and 2016."
