The 2017 Global Leaders in Consulting: Marco Vögele

It's been a wildly successful year for Marco Vogele, a Manager at Alvarez & Marsal.

Over the last 12-plus months, Vogele has been heavily focused on helping a financial institution in their transformation process. The financial institution used to conduct a lot of manual activities, which is currently being digitized/automated. This is helping the bank to have efficient processes, increase their product offerings to their clients, and increase their share in the market.

This is the type of project Vogele loves and he counts this particular project—Strategic Performance Improvement, developing a strategy for a major retail bank in the GCC, advising them to enhance their operations and reduce headcount by 33 percent over one-year—among the accomplishments that he's most proud of over the last year.

"The implementation involved hiring 20-plus full time team members, improving processes across five-plus countries, selecting best-suited vendors, developing BRDs/FSDs, and implementing the solutions," he says.

In addition, Vogele also focuses on Corporate Restructuring, establishing a target operating model, focusing on processes, organization, governance, and reporting with the objective to enhance controls within the entity. He also focuses on Large-Scale Transformation.

"Every project I've been on so far, I was lucky enough to end it successfully and build strong lasting relationships with my clients," he says. A sure sign of success, he says.

Vogele says he gives all the credit to his mentors and coaches he's had over his career and life so far. "If they wouldn't take the time to help me achieve my goals, I would not be where I am in my career today," he says. "All the success I've experienced in my career and personal life is because of the guidance and support of these individuals."

As far as what motivates Vogele to succeed, he says the answer is pretty simple. "Working in a team with smart people every day motivates me to exceed clients' expectations," he says. "And learning something new every day, because no day is like the other in consulting."

As far as being recognized as a Global Leader in Consulting, Vogele says that it's "providing me the opportunity to be part of a great community, which motivates me to continue growing professionally and advising my clients effectively."
