Finix is a healthcare supply chain transformation and consulting firm focused on identifying strategies for health systems to save money by improving their processes and finding inefficiencies. Founded in 2000, Finix's solutions have been deployed on some of the country's largest health systems through a variety of systems and technologies. Josh Fuhr, Managing Partner of Finix, sat down with Consulting to discuss the firm's performance.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth? 

Fuhr: In an era of unprecedented regulatory volatility, it is become more important than ever for hospitals and health care systems to reduce costs while maintaining and improving quality of care. Once relegated to an afterthought, supply chain has become a popular area in which to cut costs and root out inefficiencies. Fortune favors the bold, and bold, transformational changes are required if providers want to take full advantage of these cost saving opportunities.

Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Fuhr: We have continued to see unparalleled growth in 2017. Our functional consultants are currently assisting a top-10 healthcare system at their flagship hospital in Houston. The possibility of extension exists, with over 150 hospitals within the system's network. In addition to several traditional hospital audits, our AP Recovery team recently secured the firm's first state-government contract, allowing us to review the financials of 23 state-run agencies.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2018? Where do you see the most opportunities?

Fuhr: We are projecting our growth to continue well into 2018. This growth is due in part to a refocused marketing strategy. Our sales team and managing partners have attended more than 10 industry expos and conferences, providing us with innumerable prospects, leads and insight.

Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2018?

Fuhr: Over the last two years, our firm has worked on refining and perfecting our service lines to better meet the needs of our clients and partners. As we continue to grow, it becomes vital to continue this process of refinement, especially in an era of unparalleled pressure. With a relevant service offering in hand, it becomes paramount to nurture and expand our sales and marketing pipeline while maintaining quality delivery to existing clients. A properly positioned service platform and a healthy pipeline will only prove worthwhile if we are able to scale our operations accordingly.
