KornikIn this, our final issue of 2016, we shine the spotlight on an often overlooked but the critically important industry segment of Manufacturing.

This segment, like nearly every other, is undergoing its own digital revolution and the result is nothing short of Earth shattering. And this tumultuous transformation is happening in an industry that's known for being unbreakable, but not unshakable. It has fallen on hard times of late but the technology infusion is welcome news for many, especially consultants that focus on the manufacturing sector.

In this month's cover story, Manufacturing's Mojo, business writer Eric Krell takes a good, hard look at where the industry segment has been, is today and will be tomorrow. It sure looks like brighter—and lucrative days—are ahead.

Meanwhile, this is Consulting magazine's 10th year honoring The Women Leaders in Consulting. We began this award back in 2007 because we thought, frankly, it was long overdue. Ten years and 115 Women Leaders awards later, we're more convinced than ever that it was. And we are even more committed than ever to promoting the collective impact of women leaders in the consulting profession—even though statistics say woman make up only about a quarter of the entire industry. We all are well aware, however, that their impact on the consulting profession is far greater.

Over the last 10 years, the Women Leaders in Consulting award and gala has become, in our opinion, Consulting magazine's most important and most impactful initiative. Starting with just a handful of nominations in its first year, the award has grown steadily each year. I'm proud to say this year we received more than 350 nominations. This year's honorees, highlighted by EY's Kris Pederson, this year's Lifetime Achievement Award winner, are in very rare company, indeed.
