Tom Reichert
Chairman of North America

Consulting: As we close out 2015, where is your firm today?

Reichert: 2015 was one of our most successful years ever, extending the momentum we built in 2014. We continued to build and broaden our capabilities, deepen our expertise and client relationships, and extend our reach in a number of industries. We see continued strong momentum as we head into 2016.  One thing that surprised us was the robust demand for our services in Europe, given the difficult economic climate.

Consulting: How would you describe the firm's outlook for 2016?

Reichert: We are heading into 2016 quite optimistic. We have very good momentum, are working with leading companies on substantive issues, and expect another strong year. We have a broad portfolio of offerings and expect continued growth across the full range of our industries and functional areas. We continue to hone our ability to enable clients, supporting their growing emphasis on building capabilities within their own organizations. BCG Digital Ventures thrived this year, winning significant client work. Platinion North America—offering IT systems architecture and integration capabilities—also had major wins. We expect strong growth from them both next year.

Consulting: What signs are you seeing that suggest an increase or decrease in demand?

Reichert: Many companies recognize that they need help focusing on driving growth, being fit to compete in an increasingly global and interconnected world, and being more adaptive and attuned to the ever-changing business environment.

Consulting: How do you see the profession evolving in 2016?

Reichert: In terms of client work, companies are placing a high premium on value delivered and lasting impact, which suits us very well. Our ability to show both tangible near-term results and strengthen and enable internal capabilities for the future are increasingly important and remain areas of key focus for us. We also see others in our industry bolstering their digital and design capabilities, mainly through acquisitions.

Consulting: What do you see as the biggest opportunities?

Reichert: We see many exciting opportunities: unparalleled change catalyzed by new technology, the digital revolution, growing demand that organizations be more adaptive and flexible, and the rebound in U.S. manufacturing—these all create opportunities for our services.
