Like any passionate consultant, Timothy Thoppil derives satisfaction from working with a diverse client base, each with its unique strategies, challenges and needs. Having the opportunity to nosedive into these organizations and develop thorough and customized solutions translates into challenging workdays to keep him engaged and learning.
"When I reflect on some of my engagements at P3 over the last few years, I am often reminded of the business implications of the decisions I was fortunate to have facilitated—new revenue streams, new products, jobs and growth," he says. "This continues to be the primary source of satisfaction and inspiration."
Thoppil is the P3 Group's Manager, Strategy Consulting, where he quickly developed the domain knowledge and custom frameworks that became invaluable to the decision making process at major automotive suppliers. Some of his biggest contributions include managing a growth strategy engagement leading to more than a 40 percent increase in enterprise valuation and recommending a turnaround strategy for a distressed supplier.
He also authored and published Unwinding Electric Motors: Strategic Perspectives for Automotive Powertrains. He then embarked upon a series of speaking engagements to discuss various challenges facing the automotive industry.
"Becoming a published author marked the accomplishment of a major milestone in my career," he says. "It gave me an opportunity to document the frameworks I had developed over the years as well discuss my perspectives on product and technology strategies. This was an opportunity to share my knowledge and expertise on a global level portraying the value of consulting as a profession."
