Excellence in Information Technology
Age: 33

When Chris Wetmore joined McGladrey in 2010, he was a senior associate in a small group of six consultants in the Boston office. What he's most proud of about his career thus far, he says, are his contributions to help grow the Boston practice to more than 25 consultants.

As a result, he was promoted to director in just four short years. Today, he's Director, Technology & Management Consulting for McGladrey.

"It is very rewarding to be a core leader in the practice, and to help improve our approaches and methodology in our service to clients," he says. "However, where I find the real impact is around the growth and mentorship of our staff. The lessons I'm learning in my role as director are things I will continue in future leadership roles."

The portfolio of projects and recommendations Wetmore has developed for clients have resulted in drastic growth. In one instance, the IT strategy he helped implement allowed a client to scale operations in a way they had not thought possible. The company grew from a $40 million business to a $100 million business and was able to open several new locations.

"One of the biggest factors to my success is working with a strong partner team that puts a lot of trust and responsibility in my ability to deliver service to clients," Wetmore says. McGladrey is focused on the middle market and working with those clients is incredibly exciting. We develop recommendations and strategies that have huge positive impacts for our clients. Seeing our work make a difference is richly rewarding."

As for as the award, Wetmore calls it quite an honor and "a validation of the efforts that my team and I have put in over the past few years," he says.
