Impact Advisors

Paula Elliott is a Vice President at Impact Advisors, leading the Strategic Implementation Practice. With over 30 years of experience implementing and managing healthcare information technology projects, she is an accomplished and talented Executive Program Manager.

After 10 years in hospital finance and seven years working for IT vendors, Elliott says she was ready for a change and felt she could contribute to the success of potential clients based on my years of experience in various settings and situations. And has Elliott ever contributed.

She has been credited with turning around numerous EHR implementations and driving them to success. Prior to joining Impact, Elliott was an Implementation Director for a large healthcare consultancy.

"I selected IT consulting in healthcare because I have a passion for healthcare and believe that technology can—and does—improve patient care, when implemented appropriately," she says. "Having the opportunity to positively impact the health and well-being of the patients who are served by our various clients is most rewarding."

Her depth of experience with leading electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle systems projects, combined with her operational change management skills, allow her to work across a variety of venues and in challenging settings.

"For the past seven years, I have had the privilege of being a part of Impact Advisors as a Vice President," she says. "Contributing to the growth of our organization and our associates is very exciting for me. I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the direction of our firm and our inspiring culture."

Despite all of that, Elliott says she has stayed in a client-facing role, because that's "where a good deal of the action is," she says. "While serving as a leader of Impact, I continue to work with clients to successfully implement new systems. It's rewarding."

What's also rewarding, Elliott says, is the recognition around the Women Leaders in Consulting award. She says that it's "truly an honor" to be nominated for and to win the award. "I am humbled to be in such great company," she says. "It is an exceptionally good feeling to share the news with friends and family."

As far as any advice she'd like to give, Elliott says she would tell women just beginning a consulting career to work hard and work smart. "Be mindful of political and cultural landscapes, but don't let that overshadow the mission at hand—your career," she says. "You are capable! Find your area of expertise then go for it—excel each day."

It's the modus operandi Elliott has employed during her career. "Plan the work—work the plan," Elliott says. "It is applicable in nearly every aspect of work and life. Be succinct in communication and relationships and always be crystal clear on your goals and objectives; then celebrate when you achieve them!"

What is your greatest personal or professional achievement?
"My greatest professional achievement is being a part of the leadership team at Impact Advisors. The collaborative spirit and genuine caring that we share as a collective leadership team is something I greatly value. Personally, I have great close friends and good family relationships. Also, I am a cancer survivor and am most grateful for every day of life."
