Huron Consulting Group
Type of Work: Annual Day of Service
Client: Various
In May, Huron Consulting Group held its third Annual Day of Service where employees volunteered their time and effort around the globe.
Some examples include: In Atlanta, Huron employees partnered with Junior Achievement of Georgia at JA Finance Park to teach financial literacy and work readiness to local middle school students. In Chicago, they helped the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago organize a Summer Olympiad competition for children from economically challenged neighborhoods. In Portland, they collected, sorted repackaged food items and meals at the Oregon Food Bank. And, in India, they hosted a carnival and fashion show for the children of the Arushi Girls Home, Salaam Balaak Trust in Gurgaon, and reached out to children at Deepashram, a boys' orphanage.
The impact to Huron's employees and culture is priceless, says Mark Hussey, Huron's Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. When all was said and done, Huron employees participated in 54 projects over a five-day period with some 46 organizations in 25 locations worldwide. The impact of 3,900 service hours to the many organizations ranged from interacting with over 600 children through play and tutoring to preparing, serving, and/or bagging meals for nearly 3,600 people.
"The success of Huron's Annual Day of Service can be directly attributed to our employees who are fully vested in planning and executing the event. Each office location or client site chooses the organizations to serve as volunteers, which promotes a diverse set of projects while enabling employees to bond with one another," Hussey says.
