Founded in 2000, HighPoint Solutions has experienced exponential growth becoming the premier provider of specialized IT services globally, by focusing on serving the life sciences and healthcare industries. Based outside Philadelphia with five offices across the U.S. and their European headquarters in Switzerland, HighPoint has over 400 active engagements at any point in time serving industry stalwarts including Pfizer, Novartis, Cigna, Bristol-Myers Squibb, United Healthcare and many Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates.

The Challenge
A homegrown PSA system implemented in 2007 couldn't scale as HighPoint grew from 100 to over 650 consultants in 2014, imposing limitations in flexibility, visibility and data control. Lack of integration between the PSA and HighPoint's financials system meant personnel wasted time rekeying data from one system to the other and crunching numbers in spreadsheets, while the company used "Band-Aids and bubblegum" to try to handle increasing business complexity. Moreover, delays and poor visibility into resource availability made it difficult for HighPoint to get a timely and accurate view of costs, revenue and profit on a per-project basis.

The Solution
HighPoint selected NetSuite OpenAir as a complete cloud PSA solution to help drive the business forward. After going live in October 2013, in the first of a multi-phase implementation, HighPoint now has integrated capabilities for project accounting and management, resource allocation, billing and revenue recognition, and time and expense management. It also gained new ability to manage user access with role-based permissions, meet complex customer billing requirements and scale to projected revenue growth of nearly 20 percent in 2014.

The Results
HighPoint improved efficiency across the board, from field consultants to executives and administrative personnel. On-demand visibility into real-time data is enabling HighPoint to tightly control financials by specific projects and improve forecasting, while resource allocation enables informed decisions in staffing that improves client satisfaction. "Having NetSuite OpenAir to do complex calculations and generate reports has been a tremendous help so we can spend more time analyzing data, not creating it," said Eileen Riccardo, Director of Operations. "We're definitely better equipped to scale and continue our rapid growth."
