7. Insight Sourcing Group

Jake Wojcik Insight Sourcing Group is back for Round 2 as a Best Small Firm to Work For. After making its Best Small Firms debut at No. 13 last year, the Atlanta-based strategy firm returns in a big way, up six spots to No. 7.

Jake Wojcik, Senior Vice President of Insight, says, the award adds to the firm's eminence in the marketplace. "It reflects the value of what we're doing for our clients and employees and it reinforces the values that we have made a part of our culture," he says. "For our employees, this is a huge pat on the back, it's energizing and it excites people more than they already are about what our firm is able to accomplish."

And for leadership, he says, being a Best Small Firm reinforces the direction the firm has taken as a business and enables it to position itself in a way that is more appealing to both customers and employees.

He says over the next 12 months, his top priority will be to not only maintain the things that have made Insight unique but to continue working towards becoming the premier firm in the procurement space.

"We want to grow but not sacrifice any of the cultural ideals that have made Insight Sourcing Group a special place to work," he says. "Our business is growing extremely fast and we are being engaged by clients for challenging, exciting and significant projects."

One of the reasons Insight Sourcing Group is a special place to work is the focus and attention its gives to its Work/Life Balance. It ranked among the profession's best in that category on the survey.

"Our work/life balance is in a really good place and, as a result, employee retention is extremely high," Wojcik says. "Our work/life balance initiative begins with the way we handle onboarding and orientation. The way we set expectations and the way we support employee growth and development has been well thought out and improved, based on employee input."

Insight Sourcing Group Headquarters The firm solicits employee input multiple times a year through an annual employee survey and our 360-input mechanism about what can be improved at both an individual level and firm-wide level, he says. "And our work/life balance initiative ensures that the values and processes that benefit employees are constantly at the forefront of how we go about our business."

That's just one example of the way the firm supports individuals and initiatives rather than individual accomplishments, Wojcik says. He calls that thinking a differentiator.

"What sets us apart is the camaraderie and teamwork exhibited by teammates in support of each other, he says. "Plus, the focus of the work that we do and the expertise that we bring to the table is unique."

When you look at the remainder of this year and 2015, what excites you?

Jake Wojcik, Senior Vice President, says: "What excites me is the focus on continuing to innovate and build additional value-added services that drive results and value for current and future clients. I'm excited about the continued growth and innovation of all four phases of our business, which are all having a very successful year in 2014. And, in the niche of procurement, we want to continue to increase the awareness, visibility and importance that procurement can have on bottom line cost reduction and EBITDA improvement (particularly in the case of private equity, where we find operating partners are embracing the financial impact procurement can have in their portfolio of companies)."
