Point B Pongon 4. Point B

When it comes to being a Best Firm to Work For, Point B has an on-again, off-again mentality. One may have noticed that the firm appears on our list in odd numbered years and disappears in even numbered years. That's not because the firm's experiencing something akin to schizophrenic employee satisfaction, it's because firm leadership chooses to participate in the survey every other year. One thing's for sure, however, when Point B participates, Point B excels. The firm typically ranks in the Top 5, landing at No. 4 in its last three appearances on the list.

Being named a Best Firm to Work For is an honor that validates the firm's legacy as a values-based culture, says Mike Pongon, CEO of Point B. And as an employee-owned firm, "Point B exists for the benefit of the people," he says.

"Some might be shocked by this statement because it makes no mention of our clients' needs," Pongon says. "We believe that clients are best served by the most talented people who enjoy what they do and are committed to the organization in which they have ownership."

Point B's people have the freedom, influence and duty to shape one of the most unique cultures in the industry, and they enjoy the benefits that come from their work, he says. "The decisions we make as firm leaders are driven by an intense desire to create a place where talented people can flourish, feel respected and are celebrated for their contributions," Pongon says. "Our clients tell us they are delighted by the work our folks are doing, so we know our attention is not misplaced. By inviting us in to help serve their organizations and work alongside their teams, our clients share this award with us."

It's no surprise then, that on this year's survey, the firm finished in the top spot in the area of client engagement. Pongon says Point B is built on two simple ideas: "We do the right thing for our clients every time, and we build our careers around our lives vs. the other way around," he says. "We know that by doing great work and exceeding our expectations every time, we will have more than enough work to do."

And Pongon and Point B show no signs of slowing down. "We see growth as the opportunity to broaden the scope of how we help our clients, serve more clients and create exciting career opportunities for our people," he says.

Point B Information Meanwhile, Pongon says Point B has added several new service lines and industry capabilities. "We have seen triple-digit growth in almost all of them over the course of the year," he says. "Increased demand has improved our financial performance, and we know this will translate into new opportunities for our people."
