Excellence in Client Service
Ask Matthew Cohn, a Partner in the banking practice and leader of the payments group at Capco, what stands out most for him about his work and he'll tell you: "The satisfaction of leading a team of client personnel and Capco consultants to come together to solve a business problem, redesign new business processes or implement a new technology."
And that's just what he did last year when he and his team helped support the acquisition of a credit card business tied to an acquisition. As part of the work, Capco was assisting in the conversion to a new transaction processing system, launching a suite of eight new consumer and small business products and establishing a new business unit to manage the credit card business post-conversion.
"Given this work is tied to an acquisition, time lines are fixed and aggressive, essentially 33 percent to 50 percent faster than other conversions," Cohn says. "I'm very proud of the creativity, flexibility and dedication of our entire team," he says. "I continue to take very seriously the trust my clients place in me, our teams and our firm when they engage with us. I feel personally responsible that we exceed their expectations and meeting that trusted obligation motivates me to continue to seek creative solutions and quality delivery."
And Cohn's efforts are resonating with clients. In a recent first-time encounter with a new banking client, he inspired such confidence that instead of just accepting the proposal he presented, the client more than doubled the size of the engagement.
Cohn says he's focused on continuing to build Capco's Banking practice—particularly at new clients and in new functional areas—by demonstrating the firm's commitment to thought leadership, delivery excellence and ongoing development of a strong and experienced team.
Cohn, who began his career as a bank financial analyst, has over 20 years delivering solutions to complex, industry-specific problems through direct interaction with client executive management.
For his part, Cohn says the Top 25 award is "validation of my commitment and dedication, and recognition of my domain knowledge, consulting skills, leadership and teamwork," he says. "As we continue to build Capco's Banking practice in North America, I hope that this award will provide our team additional opportunities to demonstrate our delivery capabilities to new clients who have not given us a chance."
Q&A: What's the biggest factor to your success?
"I think it's my ability to listen to clients and recognize that each client is unique and possesses specific business and cultural challenges. Adapting and tailoring our delivery approach and the specifics of our recommendations to the client's situation is another key factor. Surrounding myself with talented individuals who bring a different set of experiences and perspectives. Consulting remains a team sport and I learn something from the engagement team on almost all the projects."
