Lynne Doughtie loves to win, but she also realizes that winning doesn't just happen by accident. "It takes experience, preparation, perseverance, passion, and hard work," she says. "It also takes having that internal competitive drive that pushes you to be better every single day."

And it appears that she has plenty of that. Over her 26-year career with KPMG, Doughtie has held a variety of leadership positions with the firm. In 2009, she was named one of Consulting magazine's Women Leaders in Consulting.

And last year, she was named Vice Chair, Advisory and leads Advisory in the Americas. In that role, she is responsible for leading more than 7,000 consulting professionals and advancing Advisory's overall strategic direction. She is also a member of the U.S. firm's Management Committee and sits on KPMG International's global Advisory leadership team.

"It was truly an honor to be named KPMG Vice Chair and leader of our Americas Advisory practice last year, particularly at such a dynamic time in our history," Doughtie says. "We've brought in thousands of new hires—with highly specialized skills—in the last year alone to address the emerging needs of our clients across industries such as healthcare, energy, financial services, and the public sector."

Doughtie says she's also very proud of the extraordinary team of KPMG professionals who continue to generate record results for the Advisory practice. "We're helping some of the largest organizations in the world adapt and transform their operations to compete and win in the new economy," she says.

And helping clients navigate the tumultuous state of their business is what drives Doughtie, and will continue to drive her, to succeed.

"I am passionate about understanding and meeting the needs of our clients," she says. "I see client service as much more than just working hard and having the right skills. It's about bringing a broad perspective that takes into account the trends impacting a client's business to help them see around corners and build a more successful future."

Doughtie says she learned about quality client service at a very early age by watching her parents build a successful business. "Every day I observed their passion and incredible work ethic in meeting and exceeding their customers' needs," she says. "That drive and determination was instilled in me and continues to serve me well."

Q&A: What does winning the Top 25 award mean to you?
"Most of us aren't thinking about winning awards as we hustle every day to serve our clients and grow the business. But to receive such a distinguished award, in addition to being extremely grateful for the recognition, it especially makes me proud of the tremendous team I work with. It has also allowed me to reflect on how blessed I've been over the past 26 years to work with the most incredible clients and colleagues which has provided me the opportunity to grow as a leader in ways I could have never imagined when I was starting my career. I've also had the pleasure of working closely with and learning firsthand from a number of past Top 25 award winners from KPMG, and I am honored to join their ranks."
