Excellence in Client Service

Harvey Kelly is a Managing Director with AlixPartners where he is responsible for the firm's New York financial advisory services practice. He is also Global Head of Corporate Investigations.

In 2011, Kelly, who has nearly 25 years experience as a financial consultant, led the firm's expansion to new geographic regions, opening an office in Hong Kong. He also led the department's growth in healthcare, and bolstered its capabilities serving financial institutions and private equity firms.

"We expanded our presence in Asia, which will create new opportunities to deliver services in the region. Also, we enhanced our investigative capabilities in areas such as healthcare and white-collar crime," he says. "With the increased investment that resides overseas and the regulatory changes taking place here and globally, we'll continue to see a need for the types of compliance-related advisory services."

In addition, Kelly also helped land several engagements to investigate and resolve critical challenges facing major multinational companies. For his efforts and for demonstrating vision, leadership, and commitment to teamwork instrumental in the firm's revenue growth and profitability, Kelly received AlixPartners' Founders Award last year.

Kelly credits his success to the "experience and perspective" that he brings to the table with clients. "Our experience imparts upon them the confidence that we recognize the urgency and importance of the issues they are facing," he says.

"In order to be successful, you have to have a solid knowledge base and the technical expertise needed to address a myriad of issues that your client may face at
a given point in time. It's an exciting time for us and our clients, given the types of challenges that exist globally," Kellly says.

Kelly is out to help build "the pre-eminent consulting firm" for conducting thorough and reliable investigations across the globe. "We want to continue to strengthen existing relationships and develop new ones in the legal and corporate communities," Kelly says. "To do so, we want to create new touch points with these groups through thought leadership and other brand-building initiatives."

As far as winning the award, Kelly says what pleases him most is that the award is "a reflection of the fact that our entire global corporate investigations team has provided superior service to our clients in their times of most urgent need or," as they like to say at AlixPartners, "When it really matters!"

Q&A: What stands out most about the work you do?
"It is the knowledge that we are addressing the most difficult challenges facing our clients. More often than not, investigating concerns over transactional integrity and financial reporting requires immediate attention. Bringing our experience to bear in rapidly uncovering the facts and helping our clients address the implications of our findings is gratifying. Also, while corporate governance and compliance with changes in rulemaking aren't new, we're seeing these issues move to the top of the list in corporate boardrooms. We recognize the value that Alix-Partners provides when we deliver the right technical and subject matter expertise. It's fulfilling to be able to help companies in challenging situations."
