In its pursuit to become a $2 billion, top-tier IT firm, Hitachi Consulting doubled its headcount and added a significant offshore capability with the January 4 acquisition of Sierra Atlantic. The deal adds about 2,4000 professionals, 1,800 of which are based in India and 250 are in China. Prior to the deal, Hitachi Consulting only had about 200 professionals in India. Sierra Atlantic generated about $100 million in revenue in 2010 and is best known for its offshore enterprise applications and outsourced product development offerings.

"Hitachi Consulting is committed to aggressively expanding our global business through organic growth as well as large-scale and market-specific acquisitions," says Phil Parr, President and CEO of Hitachi Consulting. "Our companies share some very strong synergies because our industry focus and geographies are well-aligned."
