Marshall-Teichert Group

Marshall-Teichert Group is a small operations management firm specializing in operational problem solving to help clients achieve improvements in productivity, cost control and quality. Chairman and CEO James Trice describes his firm as "small in size, but not in heart." The firm uses its nimbleness to its advantage to deliver value to clients, and whenever possible, over-deliver. MTG has trademarked their proprietary "Sustainability System," which the firm uses to eliminate barriers preventing clients' organizations from improving their behaviors or processes.

This unique system is one part of achieving Trice's stated goal for the organization: "We are trying to build a great consulting firm: one that is respected, admired, trusted and sought after," he says. Another way the firm boosted its Culture score is by strictly adhering to the "Golden Rule," and creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and candor, combined with a proper balance of empathy and business acumen for their clients. Trice says the guiding principle behind the firm's culture is the "Trust Formula," which according to Trice, sets the firm apart from the pack. "The MTG culture is instantly recognizable: we truly respect and trust each other and love what we do," he says. The firm's strong culture engenders a sense of not only pride in meeting and exceeding clients' expectations, but of a supportive, professional atmosphere in which innovation is encouraged by leaders.

The firm strives for its consultants to maintain a good work/life balance, as well as exceptional value for clients. The Job was another area of our survey where MTG scored highly, earning a score of 4.8 out of a possible 5. The high marks in The Job explain how the firm is able to retain top talent with "exceptionally high ethical standards and values," Trice says.
