Peter H. Appel, a Virginia-based principal with A.T. Kearney, has been confirmed by the Senate to serve as Administrator of the Research and Innovation Technology Administration (RITA) at the U.S. Department of Transportation. RITA is charged with advancing the deployment of cross-cutting technologies to improve the nation's transportation system. At Kearney, Appel focused on transportation and infrastructure, helping companies in the railroad, trucking, airline and ocean shipping industry. Previously, Appel served as special assistant to the administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, and assistant director for pricing and yield management at Amtrak.
