Valerie Logan Valerie Logan joined HP Consulting & Integration in early 2007 as part of the acquisition of Knightsbridge Solutions. As the Worldwide Consulting & Integration Information Management leader within HP, Logan is committed to establishing the firm as the premier provider of information management professional services globally. Logan built the practice from scratch and has turned HP's various consulting assets into a unified powerhouse on a global scale. "Over the past 18 months, I have facilitated a group of leaders to align around a common mission—to establish a new Information Management practice," Logan says. "It is one thing to have a team of 50 and do something well, but it is something else entirely to do it well with a team of 1,000 people with different backgrounds, cultures and languages. We have built this practice with a diverse blend of people, but the common thread that ties us all together is that we share a passion for information management and business intelligence."Logan's path to consulting was not direct. After graduate school where she studied applied math and was a teaching assistant, she spent five years at US West Communications. "This role was my most comprehensive and intense preparation for a career in consulting, although I didn't know it then," she says. "I learned corporate strategy, business processes, enterprise systems and most importantly, organizational change." Today, she uses those skills to help her clients solve information challenges. "It's not good enough anymore to have one consultant who knows the business and one who knows the data and technology. Rather, [HP] consultants possess that rare blend of understanding both—and that is a powerful combination."
