Eastern Europe is quickly becoming the destination of choice for IT decision makers intent on maximizing their outsourced software development dollars. Over the past several years, industry analyst firms have been forced to broaden their consideration set when identifying the leading offshore development companies. Gartner has already suggested that India's dominance in outsourcing "will be significantly diluted by effective alternative destinations" as soon as 2012. Forrester concurs, noting in a recent report that Eastern Europe "is cementing its position as a viable offshore alternative to India."
There are already many organizations that have restructured their outsourcing strategy in order to benefit from Eastern Europe's numerous advantages. IT leaders looking for a short list of reasons to consider embarking on a relationship with an Eastern European outsourced development partner should consider the following factors:
Price
There is a common misconception in the outsourcing marketplace that no region will be able to compete with the extremely low cost of Indian providers. While Indian offshore development companies often come in at the lowest bid, it is important to consider the level of quality and productivity IT managers receive from these providers.
