Information technology consultancy Capgemini has entered into an agreement with Amazon Web Services, a subsidiary of Amazon.com to offer cloud computing services. Capgemini's new Center of Excellence will focus on this service, and will, according to the consultancy, will initially have a team of Amazon Web Services-trained professionals located in North America, Europe and India to help clients evaluate and implement Amazon's current offering. This plan is designed to evolve with the technology.
On the firm's cloud computing Web site, www.capgemini.com/cloud-computing , the consultancy describes the service as "the use of massively scaled offsite IT resources assembled virtually, accessed over the Internet, contracted on demand in real-time or near real-time on a pay-per-use or subscription basis, where the workloads are shared among multiple customers."
