Even in a challenging economy, Hilton Hotels is going ahead with its decision to roll out a new extended stay brand—Home2 Suites by Hilton. The first hotel, focused on the mid-tier market segment, will make its debut in early 2010.

"The addition of Home2 Suites to Hilton's family of brands is an exciting milestone," says Christopher Nassetta, president and CEO of Hilton Hotels Corporation. "During challenging economic times, developers turn to strong brand names they can trust."

Although more than a year from any ribbon cuttings, Hilton officials expect to approve up to 15 franchise applications in the next few months and have already received applications from sites in New York, Baltimore, Md., Charlotte, N.C., and San Antonio, Texas. The mid-price suites will feature an expanded living area with individual workstations, complimentary continental breakfast, integrated guest laundry facilities, an activity room, a walking and exercise course, a gym, an indoor pool, outdoor living rooms and outdoor grills.
