IBM Corp. said its creating a new business unit aimed at enabling communication over global networks. The newly formed Integrated Communications Services unit will focus on the delivery of network and communication service products that are part of the company's asset-based consulting strategy.

The new Integrated Communications Services products have been characterized as the first step in IBM's strategy to deliver traditional labor-based technology services in a manner more similar to the delivery of technology products.
