(July17, 2008) - Mumbai, India - Tata Consultancy Services has released its second quarter results. The firm reported total revenues at $1.5 billion, up 20 percent, year over year.

Other key highlights include a 2 percent year-over-year-rise in net income, totaling $296 million. The firm signed on 35 new clients, and three deals top $75 million. The firm hired 8,982 employees, bringing the firm total to 116,308.

The firm attributes its healthy growth to traction in the manufacturing, life sciences and retail verticals in addition to an internal focus on customer satisfaction.
