Developing Markets

The Boston Consulting Group report, the markets that companies in RDEs choose to expand in are closely tied to industry and business models. For instance, telecommunications companies in developing economies are more likely to test other emerging markets, especially when compared to companies specializing in engineering products, which pursue global scale and therefore target large industrial customers in mature markets. Like telecommunications providers in RDEs, which test regions like their home markets, Chinese consumer-electronics manufacturers try smaller RDEs in Asia and the Middle East before launching a broader rollout.
