»The 2010 Best Small Firms: 14. Acquis Consulting Group

Acquis Consulting GroupFor Acquis Consulting Group, a New York-based operations management firm, landing on the Best Small Firms to Work For list two years running accomplishes something the firm set out to do 12 years ago, according to David Kaufman, managing partner.

“We’ve established an identity and environment where people truly feel at home. While we know we have hired exceptional people, the real success comes from their sentiments about Acquis and their contributions to the firm and our clients,” Kaufman says. “It’s internal validation about how strongly we all feel about the firm. Being recognized by Consulting magazine for the past two years validates that we created an organization that is truly distinct amongst a crowded field in the industry.”

One particular area where Acquis excelled on the survey is The Job category, which measures the satisfaction consultants feel with the client work they are doing each day. Acquis scored an impressive 4.80 out of a possible 5.0.

“We consistently hear from our clients about how our work has had a real and lasting impact on their organizations. This ‘reward’ of seeing our plans actually translated into true change and the associated value is very powerful and fulfilling to our employees,” Kaufman says. “As a small firm, we have the ability to be creative and to tailor
each project approach to meet the client’s objectives, capabilities, constraints, and culture.”

In addition, Kaufman says Acquis’ client work is tremendously varied and diverse, especially for a firm of its size. “Most of our work spans multiple strategy and operational disciplines as well as functional areas. For every consultant, we try to balance growth opportunities, while allowing for continued contribution of their acquired skills.” —J.K.
