In the January/February edition of Consulting, we examined how American Express is formalizing a consulting business around the data mining and analytics it is performing based on its unique access to aggregated consumer credit card usage information. In a similar vain, PRGX (formerly PRGX-Schultz) is looking to expand its consulting offerings by data mining the aggregated data it has collected on the business-to-business transactions in the retail and healthcare markets as part of its profit recovery audit business. To learn more, Consulting’s One on One sat down with PRGX CEO Romil Bahl. Bahl joined the firm a year ago. He previously co- founded Infosys and was recognized by Consulting as one of the Top 25 consultants in 2007.

»Perot Buys BearingPoint China
Dell’s pending acquisition of Perot System just got more attractive, following Perot’s recent pickup of BearingPoint’s operations in China.
BearingPoint has operated there since 2001 and has offices in Shanghai and Beijing. It serves domestic energy, automotive, insurance, and financial services clients. This acquisition will compliment Perot’s existing capabilities there. Perot recently won work serving Chinese manufacturing and healthcare clients. Dell provides hardware support maintenance services in China, but did not have a significant consulting or outsourcing presence in China.
BearingPoint China Consulting has an impressive reputation. In 2008, the China Software Association and ERP world.net ranked the firm among the "Top 10 IT Consulting Firms" in China and named its CEO among the "Top 10 People of the Year in the IT Industry". And in 2007, the China Enterprise Confederation named BearingPoint as the "Most Trusted Consulting Firm".
