Adapting to Market Realities: Balancing Optimism with Caution

Some financial indicators are starting to point to the beginning of the end for one of the most challenging economic periods in recent memory. While much heavy lifting remains for sure, consulting firms are starting to talk about recovery—albeit cautiously. As we begin to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off, one thing is certain: we’re a long way from where we used to be. Not just in terms of the specific markets on which consulting firms are focused, but rather on the consultancies themselves.
The last 18 months has challenged conventional wisdom on many of the best practices for consulting firm management. One thing that’s emerged from the turmoil: This is not the same profession it was back in early 2008. Now that the worst is over, it’s time to renew our efforts, refocus our energies and re-align our strategies to the new market realities for 2010. Consulting magazine will do just that with its Spring Consulting Summit on May 5 at the University Club of Chicago. The theme of the Summit: “Adapting to Market Realities: Balancing Optimism with Caution” will serve as a roadmap for Summit speakers as they help the profession get back on track in the new reality.
